Our work would not be possible without the generous assistance of many volunteers and interns. From interpreting in client meetings to organizing files, these individuals have constantly demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to immigrants’ rights. We wanted to take a moment to thank three undergraduate students who have volunteered hundreds of hours of their time with our Program over the past year.
Sarah Feather
Sarah first started interning with the Crimmigration Clinic in the fall of 2019 and returned again in the fall of 2020. Working with the rest of the Crimmigration team, Sarah helped organize numerous events, both on campus and virtual, with guest speakers such as Ricardo Arroyo and Chesa Boudin. She also created content for all of the Crimmigration Clinic’s social media accounts. Sarah often went above and beyond her duties as an intern, generously offering support to Program staff and interns. Sarah graduated this spring from Boston University.
Alma Martinez Ramirez
Alma has interned with the Program since the summer of 2020 and, despite never having been able to physically join us at our office, she has been a reliable and warm presence at the Program. As an intern, Alma worked on a wide variety of projects, from researching country conditions to translating FAQs to writing staff profiles. She also shared her personal immigration story in a moving and powerful post on our blog. This spring, Alma graduated from the University of Minnesota.
Gabriela Rivero
Gabby first came to our Program as a summer intern in 2018 and has remained a constant presence at the Program over the past three years, spending long hours assisting clients, students, and attorneys with numerous cases, including over weekends and late into the evenings, as well as over school breaks. She has interpreted for many clients, translated documents, researched country conditions, and even helped organize a successful event on the humanitarian crisis in Venezuela. Gabby graduated from Harvard College in May and will be continuing on to law school in the fall at the University of Miami as part of the Miami Scholars Public Interest Program.
