With the upcoming bar examination, we wanted to shed light on what some of our graduates have been up to since graduation. Since graduating in May, our alumni are off to start some exciting adventures. From fellowships, to clerkships, Harvard Immigration and Refugee Clinical program (HIRC) and Harvard Immigration Project (HIP) graduates are taking on the legal world one step at a time. We wanted to wish our graduates good luck as they take the Bar and give you a brief snapshot of what some of our graduates will be doing next:
Scott Hochberg- Scott will be starting an immigrant workers’ rights practice at Community Legal Services in East Palo Alto on a two year Skadden Fellowship. His focus will include wage theft, discrimination, and other problems faced by immigrant workers in Silicon Valley.
Antonia Olivia Domingo- Antonia will be working as a staff attorney for the United Steelworkers in Pittsburgh.
Sima Atri- Sima will be heading to the New Orleans Workers’ Center for Racial Justice on a two-year Equal Justice Works fellowship. While there, she will support local efforts to improve low wage workers’ and immigrant rights.
Julina Guo- Julina will be an Immigrant Justice Corps fellow at Sanctuary for Families in New York City. She will be working with survivors of domestic violence and sex trafficking.
Kellie Macdonald- Kellie will be starting a two-year fellowship with the Immigrant Justice Corps. During her fellowship, Kellie will be working as an immigration attorney at the American Friends Service Committee in Newark, New Jersey.
Caelyn Stephens- Caelyn will be joining the litigation group at Sullivan and Cromwell in New York.
Lily Axelrod- Lily will be working at the intersection of criminal and immigration law at Masferrer & Associates in Boston where she will focus on representing noncitizens in criminal court, and individuals with criminal histories in removal proceedings.
Yana Mereminsky- Yana will be joining Debevoise & Plimpton as a corporate associate in October.
Marisa Schnaith- Marisa will be starting a one-year clerkship in the Central District of California, and then she will move to Denver for a one-year clerkship in the 10th Circuit. After which, she hopes to start work with a civil rights litigation firm.
Sophie Glickstein- Sophie will be clerking for the Honorable James B. Zagel, federal district court judge, in the Northern District of Illinois.
Kaycie Rupp- Kaycie will be starting at Kirkland & Ellis law firm in Chicago this fall. She will be in the corporate department and is looking forward to working on immigration cases pro bono.
Sussan G. Lee- Sussan will be a Justice Fellow with the Immigrant Justice Corps in New York. She will be placed at the MinKwon Center for Community Action, providing pro bono legal services to the Korean and Chinese immigrant population in Queens.
Victoria Fydrych- Victoria interned at HIRC starting Sophomore year of college, graduating from Harvard College this past May. She will be starting a job at the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office as a paralegal in the Appeals Division.
Elizabeth Nehrling- Elizabeth received the Sumner M. Redstone Fellowship in Public Service. This fall she will work as an Immigration Staff Attorney at Ayuda, an immigrant rights non-profit in the greater DC area. At Ayuda she will represent immigrants from around the world in asylum, removal defense and other immigration-related legal matters as part of a holistic team of legal and social service professionals providing client-centered services.
These are just a few of our many recent graduates who are doing wonderful work. We can’t wait to see the great things they will accomplish. Once again, good luck on the Bar and congratulations graduates!
