HIRC’s Director, Professor Deborah Anker, is currently seeking research assistants to work on the newest edition of her treatise, Law of Asylum in the United States, in the 2020-21 academic year. The treatise is updated every year and is a leading resource on U.S. asylum law with a comparative and international perspective.
The Law of Asylum in the United States project is a student-grounded project where each student will be responsible for updating and perfecting one of the chapters of the book. It is a great opportunity for students to improve their legal research and writing skills, develop a deeper understanding of U.S. and international asylum law, and build a strong working relationship with an esteemed law professor.
This project will commence in May 2020 and will end in early November 2020. During the summer, students will work remotely 5 – 7 hours per week, and in the fall, they will typically work 10 – 15 hours per week. There will be a one-hour orientation in late April or early May. Current 1Ls are encouraged to apply.
Interested students are encouraged to apply by January 22, 2019 by sending a resume and a 300-word statement explaining interest in the project to Jordana Arias (jarias@law.harvard.edu). If you have any questions, please contact our current Senior RAs, Joseph Tahbaz (jtahbaz@jd20.law.harvard.edu) or Allen Song (ysong@jd20.law.harvard.edu).
