Join us for a conversation with immigration lawyer Luis Cortes Romero on where DACA stands now. Luis will discuss the legal framework behind the program, the recent Supreme Court decision, and the work currently being done to protect it. About the Speaker:
Luis Cortes Romero is the managing partner at the Immigrant Advocacy & Litigation Center in the Seattle, Washington area where he practices exclusively in immigration law. Mr. Cortes Romero represents clients in trial and appellate courts throughout the nation in a wide spectrum of cases, including before the Supreme Court of the United States, and several different federal circuit courts of appeals. He is one of the lead attorneys in Garcia v. Trump – the case representing the DACA recipients in challenging President Trump’s rescission of the DACA program. Mr. Cortes Romero’s work has been featured in numerous publications including: The New Yorker, CNN, Washington Post, and The New York Times, and is a frequent commentator on legal issues.
Mr. Cortes Romero received his law degree from the University of Idaho College of Law, where he served as the Business Editor of the Critical Legal Studies Journal, and his undergraduate degree from San Jose State University in Sociology, and Mexican American Studies.
