It’s been a while since we’ve focused on alumni pursuits, so we’re excited to highlight a few Program graduates who are working in immigration law or related fields.
Shuting Chen ’09
A graduate of the clinic in 2009, Shuting Chen was appointed as an Immigration Judge for the San Francisco Immigration Court in October 2022. Judge Chen served as a staff attorney in the immigration unit of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, after working in private practice representing immigrants in removal defense, before the Board of Immigration Appeals, and in the federal courts following her graduation from Harvard Law.
Adriana Lafaille ’10
Adriana Lafaille’s work on immigrant rights as a managing attorney of the ACLU-MA was recently featured in the Center on the Legal Professions March/April 2024 issue. Before she joined the ACLU of Massachusetts, she clerked for the Hon. Ralph D. Gants on the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts, and for the Hon. Mark L. Wolf in the District of Massachusetts. During her time at Harvard Law, Lafaille was a co-leader of the Harvard Immigration Project and a research assistant to Prof. Deborah Anker.
Paulina Arnold ’18
Paulina Arnold is currently clerking for Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor and was a Forrester Fellow at Tulane University. She previously clerked for the Southern District of New York and then the US Court of Appeals in Washington, DC. After her clerkship, she has accepted a faculty position at the University of Michigan. Paulina participated in the Crimmigration Clinic and co-led the HLS Immigration Project, while she was a student at Harvard Law.
